The RQ-170 Sentinel is a low observable unmanned aircraft system (UAS) being developed, tested and fielded by the USAF. it'll offer reconnaissance and surveillance in support of the joint forces commander. The Air Force's RQ-170 program leverages the Lockheed Martin Advanced Development Programs (ADP) and government efforts to rapidly develop and produce a low observable UAS.
The RQ-170 Sentinel is fitted with an active electronically scanned array radar, synthetic aperture radar and signal intelligence in its belly fairings. The RQ-170 is powered by a single General electric TF34 turbofan engine that produces 9,275lbs of thrust. The TF34 is intended and built by US based engine manufacturer General electric Aviation.
