The C-2A Greyhound, twin-engine cargo aircraft designed to land on aircraft carriers, providing crucial logistical support to aircraft carriers. Dubbed the "COD" for its mission of delivering carrier on board the Grumman C-2A Greyhound is a carrier-based transport capable of carrying a mixture of 10.000 pounds of high priority cargo and passengers. Powered by two turboprop T-6, the COD can accommodate up to 26 passengers or up to 20 patients trash.

The COD is capable of jet engines, dropping special forces, or deliver mail. Loading jetty is facilitated by a system of cages that can limit the load with loads up to 20 g and forward catapult and arresting loads encountered during the transport operation. The DOC is able to search and airdrop rescue (SAR) team. It is also equipped to accept patients of sand in medical evacuation missions. Priority cargo such as jet engines can be transported from shore to ship within hours. A cage system or transport stand provides cargo restraint for loads during launch transport or landing. The large rear cargo ramp and door and a powered winch allow straight rear cargo loading and unloading for fast delivery.

Open the ramp of the C-2A flight capability allows supplies and personnel parachute from an aircraft carrier underway. This, coupled with folding wings and a board unit auxiliary power for engine starting and low power self-sufficiency in remote areas provide an operational versatility found in no other cargo aircraft.

The C-2A has a wide range of radio communications and navigation equipment that is compatible with both military and civil airways around the world. Communications equipment includes HF, VHF and UHF radio navigation GPS, OMEGA, TACAN, VOR dual UHF / DF, LF / ADF, weather radar, Doppler radar, and two carrier approach systems. A system of automatic flight control provides increased directional stability, three-axis attitude control, maintenance and control of altitude. The crew consists of pilot, copilot, Crewchief and Loadmaster / Crew seconds.
